A Staycation Reimagined
It’s time to reimagine a JDM Outdoors staycation with the help of our friends, Morgan and Patrick B. You may never see a shed the same way again!
The Vision for the Adventure
The adventure began when Morgan and Patrick stopped by our Lewis Center sales center last fall to find a shed option that was economical while still fitting their vision. As Morgan shared, the goal was “to create a fun and functional space on (their) permanent campsite that could serve as both storage and entertainment.” Here's how they brought that vision to life.
After exploring their options, they chose a Mystic shed. It offered a great price point, along with the additional ceiling height they wanted for storage. From there, our sales center manager worked with them to design their shed, so it felt “customized and personal.”
First Father-Son Project
Once the shed arrived, the work began. Patrick enlisted his five-year-old son, Ben, to help build a deck off the side of the shed. This was their first official father-son project! Next, they added a pavilion for extra shade, along with seating and a fire pit. With the space coming together and fitting their vision, they were ready to start hosting.
Hosting Events
First up, their campsite became a stop on the OSU Football Game Day Poker Run. They provided drinks and snacks while showing the Ohio State Buckeye game, and the photos captured the fun as everyone enjoyed the new space.
Next, they hosted friends for the Fourth of July. If you remember all the rain this year, it was no problem for Morgan and Patrick. They filled their shed with folding tables, grilled inside the shed, and used the workbench to lay out food. The weather couldn't stop the celebration, and everyone was able to enjoy the day together.
Future Vision
The vision for the space continues to grow. Future plans include cutting out a serving window for a tavern-style atmosphere with stools for seating, adding an even better place to grill, and strategically placing TVs to feature ballgames.
Morgan and Patrick shared that they look forward to many more years of hosting events and enjoying their space they created together.
Love Your Backyard
JDM Outdoors is thrilled to be part of Morgan and Patrick’s story. Their campsite is a great example of how a thoughtfully created space can become more than just a place to store things. It can become a place to gather, enjoy time together, and create lasting memories.
